What Temperature Blocks Drains?
Does Cold Cause Blocked Drains?
Do Weather And Blockages Mix?
A little-known fact in the plumbing world is that weather plays a very big part in blocked drains Bayside.
Everyone knows that cold weather causes things to clamp up. people, animals, engines – all stops working! Now, this isn’t really an issue. The issue is the ‘thawing process’ that these pipes undergo. Particularly the pipes that lead from the shower. Why? Two words: ‘hot’ and ‘water’.
Ever jumped into a hot spa on a freezing day? That hurts! It’s too much too soon. This is what happens with pipes. When pipes that are covered in due and water and are basically frozen get heated back up too quickly, they crumble! Much like putting cold water on a scalding hot pan. Bad news! So when the pipe breaks, tree roots and dirt start getting in and boom – you’ve got yourself an issue.
Keeping Your Pipes Safe
The number one thing you can do to prevent this from happening is to gradually turn up the heat when you’re preparing to have a shower, just turn the shower on, obviously cold water will come out. Then, for about 30 seconds, just have relatively warm water run down the shower hole and throughout the pipe. This will ensure that your drains are slowly thawed instead of rapidly thawed. You might think it’s a waste of money to do this. But trust me. One day your chickens will come home to roost. And you’re better paying an extra $100 or so a year than paying about $2,500 to get your stuffed pipes fixed. I can tell you that, personally.
Here’s the real kicker – this area is most prone to this being a problem too due to the fact that there are so many trees in this area. there are so many trees due to the fact that it is a very high socioeconomic area. More trees because the richer people like them! In case you were not aware, this area houses suburbs such as:
- Black Rock
- St Kilda
- North Brighton
- Brighton Beach
- and many more suburbs!
